Acta Zootaxonomica Sinica, 33 (4) : 702- 705 ( Oct., 2008) ISSN1000(cid:1)0739 动物分类学报 ON THE GENUS YUSHENGLIUA ( HYMENOPTERA, TENTHREDINIDAE) WITH DESCRIPTION OF A NEW SPECIES FROM CHINA WEI Mei(cid:1)Cai, NIU Geng(cid:1)Yun Labof InsectSystematicsandEvolutionaryBiology, Central SouthUniversityof ForestryandTechnology, Changsha(cid:1) 410004, China; E(cid:1)mail: [email protected] Abstract(cid:1) Thediagnosisofthe genusYushengliua Weiet Nie, 1999, aswellasthedifferencerbetweenYushengliua andTaxonemphytus Malaise, 1947, Linomorpha Malaise, 1947 and Stenemphytus Wei et Nie, 1999, are briefly discussed. Y. formosa sp. nov., is described fromSichuan, China. Akey to the known species of Yushengliua is proposed. Type specimens of the new species are deposited inthe Insect Collection of CentralSouth University of ForestryandTechnology, Changsha, China. Key words(cid:1) Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae, Yushengliua, newspecies, China. (cid:1) (cid:1) Yushengliua is erected on the basis of Yushengliua hind tibia slightly shorter than hind tarsus, 1(cid:2)3 times as microcula Wei et Nie, collected from Yunnan Province, longas hind femur and trochanters together, inner apical China ( Wei et Nie, 1999). It is a small sawfly genus spur of hind tibia slightly longer than outer spur and with only1 known species recorded from China till 2006 apical width of hind tibia, not enlarged or broadened; (Wei et al. , 2006). A new species, Y. formosa sp. hind basitarsus as long as following 3 tarsomeres nov., found from Sichuan Province, China is described together; claw with a distinct basal lobe, inner tooth here. Both species were collected from the subtropical slightly longer than or as long as outer tooth. Fore wing evergreen broadleaf forests region of Southwest China. with cells 1R1and 1Rs merged, cell2Rs longer thanhalf length of cells 1R1+ 1Rs; R+ M distinct butvery short; Yushengliua Wei et Nie cu(cid:1)a joiningcell 1Mat basal 1(cid:1)5, anal cross vein weakly Yushengliua Wei et Nie, 1999b: 10(cid:1)11. oblique, joining 1A at an angle of 60(cid:1)80(cid:2). Hind wing Type species: Yushengliua microcula Wei et Nie, without closed middle cell, cell R1 with a small 1999b. appendiculate cell, anal cell sessile. Ovipositor longer Diagnosis. Body slender, strongly shining; than metabasitarsus; annular patch semitransparent, mandibles asymmetrical, left mandible with a large basal pilose band indistinct, serrulae oblique, feebly tooth and a slender outer tooth, without subapical protruding, with minute subbasal teeth. shoulder, rightmandible simple; malar space longer than Notes. Yushengliua is a member of the tribe diameter of an ocellus; clypeus strongly elevated, acutely Allantini, Allantinae. It stands between the subtribes edged, with adistincttransversal carina, anterior excision Linomorphina and Allantina ( Wei et Nie, 1998). The round, with depth about two fifths total length of structure of mouthparts and clypeus of Yushengliua is clypeus, lateral lobe short and narrow; labrum small, similar to members of Allantina, the structure of wing about aslongas middle length of clypeus; baseoflabrum venation and legs are similar to members of covered by clypeus; supraclypeal area evenly elevated, Linomorphina. Yushengliua differs from other genera of with an obtuse middle carina; occipital carina complete, the two subtribes in the eyes quite small and the malar posterior margin of postocellar area without carina; eyes space long. small, shortest distance between them 1(cid:2)5(cid:1)2(cid:2)0 times Yushengliua is quite similar toTaxonemphytus Malaise, height of an eye; head behind eyes in dorsal view long 1947 in general appearance. It differs fromTaxonemphytus and dilated behind eyes; postocellar area wider than in eyes quite small with theshortestdistancebetweeneyes long. Antenna long, slightly compressed, 3 times head 1(cid:2)5(cid:1)2(cid:2)0 times the height of an eye, prosternum as long width, pedicellum slightly shorter than width, third as wide, hind anal cell sessile, hind basitarsus much antennomere slightly shorter than fourth one. Anterior shorter than following 4 tarsomeres together, pedicellum lobe of pronotum3 times diameter of an ocellus, with a broader than long, postocellar area broader than long, distinct fine submarginal carina; propleura broadly labrum smaller, basal part covered by clypeus, clypeus meeting ventrally, prosternum shortand broad, about as semicircularly incisedtohalfthelengthofclypeus, aswell long as broad; mesepisternum with a sharp anterior as body and legs quite slender. carina, metapostnotum long and flat, with an obtuse Yushengliua is also somewhat similar to Linomorpha middle carina. Inner tibial spur of front leg bifurcate; Malaise, 1947 and Stenemphytus Wei et Nie, 1999 ( Wei This researchwassupportedbytheNational Natural ScienceFoundationof China (30571504, 30771741) andthePresidentFoundationof Central South ForestryUniversity. Yushengliua differsfromLinomorpha in the behind eyes feebly dilated and hardly longer than eye in clypeus strongly elevated with a distinct marginal carina; dorsal view, postocellar area weakly elevated, wider than eyes small, the shortest distance between eyes 1(cid:2)5(cid:1)2(cid:2)0 longas 5 4; lateral furrows distinct but shallow, curved times the height of an eye; malar space longer than at anterior third; eyes small, shortest distance between diameter of an ocellus; antenna about 3 times head eyes about1(cid:2)5timesheightofeye, malar space1(cid:2)3times width, pedicellumbroader than long; prosternumas long as long as diameter of lateral ocellus; clypeus strongly as wide; hind basitarsus much shorter than following 4 elevated and roundlyemarginated; frons elevated, lateral tarsomeres together, claw long and not sharply bent; cell wall distinct, anterior wall absent. Mesoscutellum slightly 2Rs muchmorethanhalflength of1R1+ 1Rs; ovipositor elevated. Hind basitarsus as longas followingthree joints large, distinctly longer than hind basitarsus, serrulae of together; teeth of claw parallel, inner tooth as long as lancet long, with more than 10 minute subbasal teeth. and slightly broader than outer tooth ( Fig(cid:2)2). Front Yushengliua differs from Stenemphytus in the clypeus wingwith cell 1R1+ 1Rs about 1(cid:2)3 times length of cell strongly elevated with a distinct marginal carina; eyes 2Rs, vein 2r(cid:1)m strongly oblique, cu(cid:1)a joiningcell 1M at small, the shortest distance between eyes 1(cid:2)5(cid:1)2(cid:2)0 times basal fifth. Ovipositor in lateral view as in Fig(cid:2)3, sheath the height ofan eye; antenna about 3times head width, in dorsal view very long and narrow, lateral setae pedicellum broader than long; prosternum as long as distinctlycurved; lancetwith27serrulae(Fig(cid:2)4) , middle wide; hind basitarsus much shorter than following 4 serrula each with inner subbasal teeth obscure and about tarsomeres together; cell 2Rs much more than halflength 12outer subbasal teeth (Figs(cid:2)5(cid:1)6). of 1R1+ 1Rs, andhind anal cell sessile.
