This document is a dissertation submitted by Percy Chigwena in partial fulfillment of a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Zimbabwe. It is dedicated to his parents and family for their support. The dissertation investigates the relationship between audit committee characteristics and quality of financial reporting in state-owned enterprises in Zimbabwe's transport sector. The literature review examines theories and prior research on audit committees and financial reporting quality. The methodology section describes the quantitative research design using a survey to collect data and correlation/regression analysis to analyze the relationship between audit committee characteristics and financial reporting quality. Preliminary results are presented along with the overall structure of the dissertation.
